GLASS TAPESTRY
Rutgers University
Camden Law School

My proposal calls for 28 stain glass windows to be placed on the North glass curtain wall. Each section of glass will be approx.
8ft x 4ft 6in. The window would be made of hand-blown antique glass with a colored flash and an opalescent, or half transparent flash.

In designing the image for the window I was reminded of a quote from a book by John Mortimer the British barrister and novelist in which he writes about "the golden thread of justice which weaves itself through all our lives". This gave me the idea to treat the front of the building
as a tapestry. My design weaves itself through the entire facade of the building relating the two floors visually together.

I wanted to make the design a strong, timeless, dynamic statement. From the outside the window would become a focal

point, especially at night. From the inside it would bring a sense of energy and drama to the room, becoming a dramatic backdrop for both a student common room and a place where formal receptions will take place.

Installation Spring 2007.
